DJ PROFILE: DJ SoFINE

SPECIALITY: R & B, Hip-Hop, 70's & 80's Soul & Neo (Organic) Soul

I have developed a reputation for being an exciting talent on the Soul, Hip-hop and R'n'B club circuit. Audiences respond to my love for the music, which in turn creates an electric atmosphere at the events I play at. Cliché is rejected, favouring an eclectic mix, whilst never alienating the audience.

Initially producing mix tapes for friends and playing at underground parties in the early 90's honed my craft. It was not long before my abilities were recognised by promoters, and was asked to play at various West End venues, like The Fish, Maximus (Capital Club) and Bar Circa.

Not one for complacency, I am constantly improving my technique, introducing different influences into each set, which stems from my extensive knowledge of dance music.

2001 was a defining year for me. I was flown over to Dubai, and was an integral part of re-launching The Garage nightclub. Top billing at that years MOBO Awards Party, held at the London Arena, heightened my credibility even further. I played alongside DJ 279, at rap star Xzibit's concert at Subterania. This pivotal year was rounded off, with me playing, for the second year running, at the Untold Magazine Christmas party.

Being very much in demand, at this time, I became resident in 2002 at the monthly Black'n'White night at the Glasshouse. In the same year I headlined at the Sapphire Ent launch party at Tokyo Joes.

With status firmly established, and DJing for various promoters around London, I decided in 2003 it was time to promote my own night. 'The Finest', was a monthly event in the West End.

I was also fortunate to have the opportunity of co-presenting a show, for the Hip-Hop weekender, on 1xtra Radio and hosting the Respect Stage at the 2003 Peoples Day Annual Festival.

Feeling very fortunate with the experiences I'd had made me want to encourage others to realise their own potential. I felt it was time to explore other areas. Moving into DJ Tutoring was a natural transition. I have had the opportunity to work with many teenagers teaching at various different DJ workshops. I have recently been appointed as off site DJ Tutor for the renown PointBlank London.

Wanting to take my interests a stage further I decided at the beginning of 2005 to explore radio presenting more seriously. I completed an eight week radio production course with PointBlank. Upon completion I manage to get a slot on Whoa FM.
You can catch me every Sunday morning 8am - 10am playing some of the finest Neo Classics, Soulful Hip Hop, old and new.

I pride myself on 100% commitment to any project I'm involved with. Knowledge is power and being able to empower another with what I've learnt, I in turn feel empowered.
