Antoinette
Clinton known by her stage name Butterscotch, is an American
beatboxer/singer/pianist, who has been making waves in the music
industry since her appearance on the second season of America's
Got Talent in 2007.
The young
protégée, already began to gain notoriety when
she won the first World Hip Hop Beatbox Women's Championship
in 2005 and claimed the West Coast Champion title in 2007 beating
18 men. Since then, Butterscotch has toured extensively with
the Mike Patton-fronted band Peeping Tom, beatboxing in place
of Rahzel.
The California
native, both sung and beatboxed, as well as a combination of
the two while playing the piano, for her performances on the
Hit Talent Show; America's Got Talent, which aired on British
TV again this week. Although unsuccessful in reaching the finals,
she was able to make it through several stages of the competition
before finally being voted out by the viewers on August 20,
2007.
Rumored
to be working on a fourth coming Album, Butterscotch's revolutionary
style of Hip Hop 'Beat Boxin' mixed with her own Modern renditions
of both legendary Jazz & Soul Classic's, which have included:
Summertime, by George Gershwin, It's Your Thing by The Isley
Brothers & My Funny Valentine from the musical Babes in
Arms, has been described as 'Experimental Hip Hop/Jazz', and
is set to encourage new and ever younger audiences back to Jazz,
and is therefore perfectly exemplifies the concept of UrbanJazz,
and will most certainly not only do great things in the future,
but to some certain extent probably revolutionalise the music
industry in the process.
